The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2) is for people who don’t use mains gas to heat their homes. However, households are still eligible for the scheme if they are connected to mains gas for something other than heating (such as cooking).

The Grant will pay for a range of energy efficiency measures including insulation and heating upgrades.

Please note this is scheme is now closed and applications will no longer be processed for the Home Upgrade Grant in this area.

Later this year we should see a new grant become available called Warm Homes: Local Grant, and as soon as we have more details on this grant, we will update our website with information on how you can apply.

Aim of the scheme

Stratford-on-Avon District Council has obtained funding through the UK government’s Help to Heat schemes to improve the energy efficiency of low-income households with low Energy Performance Certificate ratings.

The HUG2 scheme aims to improve the warmth and comfort of homes that do not have mains-gas heating, whilst also reducing energy bills, carbon emissions and levels of fuel poverty across the county.

A range of energy efficiency improvements have been made available through this scheme and include clean heating solutions, such as air source heat pumps and insulation measures.

You don’t need to contribute as this is a grant scheme, but certain criteria will apply.

Please note that all applications are subject to a technical survey and an application acceptance does not guarantee that work will go ahead.

Eligibility

Am I eligible for funding:

You and your home will need to meet all of the following criteria:

  • Your home does not have gas central heating
  • Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of D, E, F or G (If your home does not have an EPC, then we will arrange one free of charge)
  • The whole household has a combined annual income under £36,000 (gross)

Some postcodes are automatically eligible for the scheme, meaning that off-gas grid and EPC D-G rated homes in these postcode areas are consequently qualified for the Home Upgrade Grant.
