New Project - DAWS
New Project Alert!
We have officially launched our new partnership with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Charity (BCHC), funded by the Cadent Foundation. As part of the wider Direct Access to Wellbeing Services (DAWS) project, we have been awarded with £700,000 to help deliver energy saving advice to people who are at risk of re-admission to Birmingham hospitals.
The project will span over two years and will allow NHS staff to refer clients who they believe will benefit from the advice we can give. This project has already enabled us to deliver basic energy advice training to staff from BCHC to give them the ability to recognise issues and resolve minor energy-related problems. This allows us to focus on complex cases whilst still ensuring that everyone involved is given the help they need.
Not having a suitable home to come back to after a hospital stay can lead to re-admission, and energy is a big part of that. After long-term spells, many people will come back to cold homes, energy debt that has accrued, or return home in a much more vulnerable state than when they left which leaves them more susceptible to cold-related illnesses.
Our aim is to work with our clients to sort through their energy issues, make their home more comfortable with energy efficiency measures and keep them warm in order to avoid the need for re-admission due to living in a cold home. We are also able to offer bespoke benefit advice which will allow clients to make the most out of what they are eligible for and maximise their income to help them afford their energy bills.
Overall, we are excited to work with BCHC and the Cadent Foundation to help ease the pressure on Birmingham hospitals.
