Private Sector Energy Efficiency

Act on Energy – the West Midlands leading energy advice charity has welcomed the government’s recent consultations focusing on a new fuel poverty strategy and better energy efficiency standards across the private rented sector.

CEO Rachel Jones said, “Everyday we support people right across our region who are struggling with higher energy bills and poor quality housing.  Ultimately, it’s only by improving our homes’ energy efficiency that we will really be able to tackle higher bills and meet the country’s net zero targets.

“The West Midlands has the highest rates of fuel poor households in the country. The grim reality is that so many of the households are experiencing ill health as a result of living in a cold, damp home.  The knock on effects of ill health are well known so we welcome a bold, ambitious approach to tackle the double whammy of cold homes and ill health, whilst also reaching net zero targets.”
