Over the last couple of months, Act on Energy hosted a number of ‘Winter is Coming’ events. We increased the number of local events that we attended over October and November, as well as hosting a few ourselves and inviting a selection of the brilliant organisations that we work with across the different regions.

Our goal was to allow the general public to receive a number of different support avenues all in one place, before they headed into the colder months. We hoped that this, partnered with essential energy advice and the promotion of current grants available, would help prepare the local people for the energy price cap increase and the increase in energy consumption that we always see in Winter.

Over the five key events that we hosted, we were able to speak to 500 people; 44% of whom had an in-depth conversation with one of our energy advisors. It was great to see the number of people who were actively engaging by asking questions about their energy situation, as we pride ourselves on being able to give personalised energy advice, tailored to the individual and explained in a way that makes sense to the general public.

We also took contact details from 38% of the attendees, who were interested in having a more detailed conversation with one of our energy experts around certain issues they were facing; many of which have resulted in a home visit to provide additional support and assess the in-home changes that could be most beneficial to the client.

Although the ‘Winter is Coming’ campaign has come to an end, our outreach officers are regularly attending events throughout our area and, in the new year, we will be updating the events page on our website to include a list of events that we are attending. We will also be hosting another event in late January in Worcester City as a Mid-Winter refresher to help provide support after many people have received their large December bill. More details will be added to our website and social media over the coming weeks.
